About Us

  • Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon C. Thomas Hopkins, Jr., MD, has been committed to caring for his local community of Griffin, Georgia, for over 30 years. Dr. Hopkins applies his extensive experience in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine at his community-oriented practice, OrthoGeorgia Griffin. A native of Griffin, Dr. Hopkins comes from a family that’s been providing health care to the central Georgia community since the 1850s. Since he lives only five minutes from the local hospital, Dr. Hopkins is highly available for his patients. After graduating from Griffin High School, Dr. Hopkins earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Valdosta State College in Valdosta, Georgia.  After being awarded an Air Force scholarship, he went on to earn his medical degree at Emory University. Upon completion of this degree and internship at Atlanta's Grady Memorial Hospital, he served as a fighter squadron flight surgeon in the Middle East, Alaska, and continental United States. After his tour of duty as a flight surgeon, he returned to Emory University to complete his orthopaedic and sports medicine training. Devoted to serving his community, he serves on the University System of Georgia Board of Regents, overseeing all public universities in Georgia. He also serves or has served as president of the Griffin Rotary Club, Spalding Regional Hospital Chief of Staff, United Bank board, MAGMUTUAL Insurance Company Board, Salvation Army, and others. Dr. Hopkins is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He and his wife, Sara Lucas Hopkins, have two children, Charles Thomas Hopkins, III, DMD, and Paige Hopkins Parker, DPT.
