About Us

  • Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology? When I was in residency I had many interests, but when looking at a career I wanted to have fun and enjoy my work. GI was the most enjoyable area that I encountered. Do you have a specialty of interest within GI? I have a broad interest in gastroenterology. Where did you study? Undergrad: Texas A&M (Magna Cum Laude), Medical School: Baylor College of Medicine, Internship and Residency: Baylor Affiliated Hospital, Gastroenterology Fellowship: Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C. What certifications do you hold? I am board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time? My wife and I raise competition level alpacas. We also love to travel, spend time with family, and grow bonsai trees. Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share? During medical school I gained membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in addition to receiving Honors in Basic Sciences. During my fellowship, I served as Clinical Instructor of Medicine/ Gastroenterology, and in 1988 I received the prestigious Lawlor Award for Best Scientific Paper from the American College of Gastroenterology. In 2013, I was awarded the Patterson-Nelson Award by the TSGE for lifetime service to gastroenterology in Texas. I have been listed as one of Texas Monthly’s Top Doctors in Texas for eight consecutive years. Please list your professional affiliations.
