About Us

  • In 1930, the historic Tybee Post Theater was constructed and used as a movie house for soldiers stationed at the nearby army base. The theater closed about 30 years later, but was reopened in 2015 as a performing arts and movie venue. The Tybee Post Theater stands as a symbol of Tybee Island’s commitment to historic preservation and also to our cultural heritage. Friends of the Tybee Theater is a non-profit that was created to raise the funds necessary to purchase and restore this local treasure into a cultural arts center.
