About Us

  • The Sly Fox Pub’s opening signifies a new beginning in Chef/Owner Mark Elliott’s career as he realizes his long time dream of capitalizing on the success of his opus, Elliott’s on Linden in Pinehurst. For the past year, Mark (who is originally from England) and his staff, have worked relentlessly to faithfully create the perfect public house for the masses in the Sandhills and beyond. We are proud to pay homage to the gastropub movement, allowing our food to be informed by influences from other gastronomically significant regions of Europe, notably France and the Mediterranean. The kitchen at The Sly Fox is dedicated to combining innovation, technique, and respect for the classics to bring you an unsurpassed pub dining experience. Above all, we at The Sly Fox want our pub to be many things to many people. A perfect lunch spot on your break or on your day off. A place to gather for dinner with the whole family. A spot in the sun to enjoy the breeze and a lovely brew. No matter what brings you to The Sly Fox, we’ll be looking forward to seeing you. "A gastropub concentrates on quality food. The name is a combination of pub and gastronomy and was coined in 1991 when David Eyre and Mike Belben took over The Eagle Pub in Clerkenwell, London. The concept of a restaurant in a pub reinvigorated both pub culture and British dining" The menu at The Sly Fox continually evolves with the changing of the seasons and at the pleasure of our guests. Traditional British classics contemporized are the centerpiece of our food philosophy at The Sly Fox. This, however, is not the extent of the fare that we offer. The mission of the pub is to always produce reasonably priced high quality food, source local purveyors of produce, seafood, meat and poultry as often as possible, and provide an ever-evolving menu of seasonal delicacies that is decidedly Anglo-centric yet informed by the finest international influences. In keeping with the tradition at Elliott’s on Linden, all things are possible at The Sly Fox. If you can’t find an old favorite on the menu, please don’t be shy about asking about it. In most cases, if we have it in the building, we’ll happily prepare it for you. Please refer to our Menu for a listing of all fare currently offered at The Sly Fox. Beer is an integral part of things at The Sly Fox; it’s a part of our soul. The world abounds with phenomenal beers that are difficult or impossible to find in the Sandhills. Offering some of these beers through an ever evolving beer selection is one of the cornerstones of the Sly Fox philosophy. We offer an always changing selection of beers on our sixteen tap draft system and a vast array of beer by the bottle. We will continually search and taste seasonal and high allocation brews to bring the best micro brews and imports to you always. Whether they are in the traditional twelve ounce bottle, smaller 11.2 ounce bottles favored by the finest Belgian breweries, or large format masterpieces, the beers you find at The Sly Fox should fit any and all flavor profiles. As much as we love beer, we readily acknowledge that there are times when a beautiful bottle of wine is the perfect complement to the occasion. We have enlisted the expertise of Tad Braun, former Elliott’s on Linden Wine Steward and current General Manager of Rue32 to help shape the wine selection at The Sly Fox. Under Tad’s direction, we maintain a wine list that is compact yet complete, full of flavor, and always evolving. Remaining faithful to our European heritage, we largely feature many Old World and Old World styles of wines at The Sly Fox. As we do with our beer selection, we pride ourselves on offering phenomenal wines whose quality far surpasses their local popular notoriety. Our knowledgeable staff are always on hand and looking forward to the opportunity to assist you as you select the perfect wine for the occasion. Please refer to our Wine List for a full listing of wines that are presently available.
