About Us

• Long before it was named Luna River, it had a name. Actually it's had several names throughout it's evolution. But before it had any names it was an idea, a simple concept. For those of us involved back then there was no defined format. It's identity was fluid and malleable. It could be reshaped in a moment to fit our latest ideas or insights. It could be anything and everything and nothing all at the same time. But alas, as with any idea that emerges into the "real" world, it had to become more defined and far less elastic. Real world people require names to define and distinguish it from all the other its out there. And once named they expect it to fit into this pigeon hole or that business model. The further it emerges into the "real" world the more people want to know what it is. What label should they file it under, what niche market will it serve, or better yet what stereotype should they apply to it. "Will it be a store?" Not really, but we will sell some books and other metaphysical gadgetry there. "Oh, so it's a bookstore." No, no... I mean we will sell some books there but it's not really a bookstore. "You're opening a tarot parlor?" No, not at all! We will do tarot readings but we will also offer classes on tarot and other esoteric concepts so that people can learn to do these things for themselves. "So it's a school?" Kind of but more than just a school. We want to reach out to the uninitiated and introduce them to the experience of metaphysical living without all the counterculture hoopla. "Ah, this is some kind of religious thing then?" NO!!! Religion has nothing to do with it! You can be a part of any religion or no religion and still benefit from metaphysical practices. Our library has material from a number of religions and these practices can be applied to any belief system we have run across. "You have a library there?" Yes, we do have a small library of books for our customers to browse through and we are hoping to grow that library into a significant resource for those who wish to study esoteric and metaphysical ideas. "So what is this Luna River thing you're starting?" We don't know! We don't know of any predefined labels that encompass all we are doing. We don't know of any niche market that we will serve more than any other. We don't know of any stereotypes that really apply to what we are creating. We do know that we have a vision and that what we are creating today is only a small piece of that vision. We also believe that our vision will evolve and that Luna River will adapt itself to fulfill that new vision and meet the needs of our customers and clients.
