About Us

  • Hollywood Candy is all about fun and nostalgia! We specialize in hard-to-find retro and nostalgic candies of the past, as well as the biggest and best candies of today. There's plenty of retro toys, novelties, and we boast one of the largest collections of PEZ dispensers you'll find. Whether individual pieces, by the pound, candy in bulk, or even a whole gift basket full of candy we offer a wide range of "sweet" product options. We pride ourselves in our extensive collection - and we are always seeking out new and hard to find retro candy and toys. We like to be able to say that if you can't find it here, you're only going to find it in your memories... Our store is decorated in the themes of old time pharmacies, mercantiles, and general stores of the past. From checkerboard floors, to wooden shelving, to the metallic ceiling panels, we want you to feel like you have stepped through a door into a bygone era. We know we have succeeded when our guests, both young and old, walk through our doors and gasp in surprise and delight. Hollywood Candy is owned and operated by an Omaha based company. The original concept began a long ways back in the mind of the company's owner, Larry Richling. Throughout his life, Larry has held an interest in the cinema, antiques, and food, so he figured why not combine them together to form a store? Having already started up the restaurant company, Hollywood Diner, it was only natural to name the new company Hollywood Candy. Hollywood Candy had its inconspicuous beginning in the early months of 2007. Another of Larry's businesses had just moved into a new corporate office building in Omaha's historic Old Market. The new building had a large reception area that just didn't quite fit the needs of the company. With all that empty space, Larry began to formulate the idea that had been brewing in his head for some time. With his years of experience as a huge candy (and especially PEZ!) buff, Larry had gained many contacts in the world of candies, toys, and novelties. With his knowledge, desire, and the big empty space in the building's lobby, it was only a short while until the candy shipments began to arrive. With the paint barely dry and the employees applications still moist with ink, Hollywood Candy was ready to open. And so it was that in early spring of 2007, Omaha's Old Market gained its newest store and Hollywood Candy was opened to the public.
