About Us

  • Contract Carpet One of Beltsville provides the best options out of any Maryland flooring and carpeting contractor. Our story spans over three generations of flooring professionals. Our History 2 Memorial Hall 300x276 AboutLouis Zanelotti, journeyman tile setter and father of our founder, Anthony, developed his son’s interest in flooring when he set ceramic tiles in some of the most historical places in Washington, D.C. Included in his amazing resume is the National Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Louie’s hard hands showed the cracks that were common of fine building tradesmen, most of whom were Italian immigrants. As a young man, Louie taught his son Tony the skills of the trade. Sadly, before his training could be completed, Tony was called to serve in World War II. Tony started his professional career as a Washington, D.C. police officer while working for the Hinkle Rug Company in order to make extra money to support his expanding family of six children. Working for Hinkle reignited his passion for flooring instilled by his father, and in 1976 he struck off on his own and opened Contract Carpet Systems. Tony’s vision was to provide floor coverings to the expanding commercial market around Washington, D.C. Contract Carpet Systems Today KurtZanelotti AboutIn 1985, Tony’s son, Kurt Zanelotti, joined him in the flooring business and has continued to operate both Contract Carpet Systems and Contract Carpet One Floor and Home as its President and Owner. Not only has Kurt brought the future of flooring to Contract Carpet Systems, but he is also an active member in the D.C. and Maryland community. As a University of Maryland student, Kurt was a member of the Maryland Rugby team, the Kalegethos Society, and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He is also still an active member in the University of Maryland Terrapin Club. Since his days as a Terp, Kurt has won Person of the Year awards in 2002 and 2013 from the Maryland & Northern Virginia Floor Covering Association, and was honored in the Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Foundation’s 30 People Who Made a Difference in 30 Years list. Kurt has also joined Contract Carpet Systems with the Washington, D.C. Accelerent Business Development Group. Kurt’s vision for Contract Carpet Systems/Contract Carpet One has made the company the top choice for floor covering and carpet installation in Maryland. Contract Carpet is licensed in four states in addition to the District of Columbia. Contract Carpet in the Community The team at Contract Carpet is proud of the heritage that has been developed over the years, as well as our ability to say that we truly have been a part of the building of our nation’s capital, one square yard or square foot at a time! We are equally proud that our business has allowed us to support our many employees and their families, along with philanthropies such as Believe in Tomorrow Foundation, the University of Maryland Terrapin Club, and the Susan B. Komen Foundation, among others.
