About Us

  • Founded in 1972 by Anthony (a.k.a. Shawn) and Michael Caputo. The brothers worked hard and quickly established a solid reputation as expert arborists who specialized in hazardous take-downs. Many of the competing tree companies in surrounding municipalities often referred their customers to the Caputo Brothers for particularly difficult and hazardous tree removals. This still holds true more than 35 years later. In 1975 Caputo Brothers Tree Service purchased the property of a firewood cutting business in Cedar Grove on Pompton Avenue, at the corner of Brunswick Road. Their large firewood pile located on that property has become a Cedar Grove landmark over the last three decades. The tree business continued to grow and so did the families of Shawn and Michael. Along with pickup trucks, dump trucks, chippers, grinders, bucket trucks, log splitters, conveyors, cranes and various equipment three sons of the founders soon joined the business. Rocky Caputo, a former Army Paratrooper, Army Reservist, and current National Guardsman started climbing trees with his father and uncle over ten years ago. When he isn't assigned to active status, Rocky strives to learn as much as he can about the business of trees. He earned an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Horticulture and is a Certified Arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and a licensed Certified Tree Expert (CTE #518). A few years after Rocky joined the business his brother, Carmine Caputo and his cousin Hunter Caputo also started climbing trees. Michael Caputo, Shawn Caputo, Rocky Caputo, Hunter Caputo and Carmine Caputo continue to offer expert, safe, knowledgeable, dependable, affordable and reliable service to their North Jersey commercial and residential customers
