About Us

  • Alissas approach to holistic fitness uses the inner power of the body to uplift the spirit and mind. She believes that physical movement and health form the centerpiece of a deeply satisfying life. She earned her BA in American Studies from UC Santa Cruz, additionally practicing Spanish, community theater, yoga, dance, and mixed martial arts. Alissa first experienced the transformative power of Pilates at age 17, as an out of shape, injured, and anxious teen. Since then, she's used Pilates as the number one foundational practice in order to keep her body mobile and strong, and her mind focused and calm. Her work with midwives in rural Oaxaca, Mexico gave her a deeper appreciation for how important embodied movement training is for humans of all ages, and inspired her to return to the U.S. to do her certification in Pilates equipment and mat work through Integrated Teacher Training, San Francisco. Additionally, she studied extensively with world-renowned Mind-Body educator, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, a pioneer in the field of Somatics and healing. Alissa weds this somatic awareness with Pilates techniques in order to help meet the physical and lifestyle goals of her clients.

    Alissas fluent in Spanish, sings, meditates, hikes, scuba dives, rock climbs, dances, and cooks. She is a merry-magic-maker, born and raised in Oakland, Ca, where she currently lives with her fantastic boyfriend.
